Sustainability Analyst

We are MMG and we mine for progress

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.

The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.

It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.

MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.

Sustainability Analyst

Reporting to the Superintendent Environment and Sustainability, MMG Limited now have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Analyst to be based in our Burnie Office on a 5:2 / 4:3 roster

This role will see you guiding and implementing strategies that improve the environmental, social economic and governance performance of the business.

Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):

  • Working collaboratively across departments to support sustainability initiatives, ensure compliance with regulations, and drive continuous improvement towards corporate responsibility goals
  • Support with the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Framework.
  • Assist in the development, execution, and evaluation of the site’s sustainability strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for improved sustainability practices across operations, supply chain and stakeholder engagement.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on best practices, regulatory obligations, and environmental impacts.
  • Provide support as a subject matter expert on ESFG (Environmental, Social, Financial and Governance) trends and emerging issues.
  • Reporting and Compliance
  • Coordinate data collection and produce sustainability reports in line with frameworks such as ICMM, GRI, TCFD, CDP or SASB.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure the organisation remains compliant with relevant environmental laws and standards.
  • Project Management as required
  • Lead or support sustainability related projects, Research and recommend innovative solutions to improve sustainability performance.
  • Contribute to training and awareness campaigns across the business.
  • Benchmark against industry best practices and contribute to the development of sustainability policies.
  • Administration support  such as processing invoices and other admin duties as required.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Post Grad Diploma in Finance, Accounting or Sustainable Management
  • Experience in the Environmental Management or Environmental Accounting.  
  • Trained in Systems Auditing (ISO 14001) (desirable)
  • Desire to conduct Administration support and experience with SAP (desirable)
  • A minimum 1 years’ experience in Sustainability, ESG.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and legislation.
  • Confident Influencing and relationship-building skills with strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Strategic, forward thinking, “can-do” attitude
  • An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures. 
  • A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values
  • A manual C Class driver’s license
  • First aid certificate – Desirable
  • Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
